The problem I have is that he wants it to be first line treatment, usually without anything else. Plus he also does not acknowledge the research that has shown meditation to exacerbate some symptoms of PTSD.

(Also, even in more seemingly secular meditation options there are spiritual elements, and that does not sit well with me at all since I am aspiritual.)

Meditation also exacerbates anxiety and depression. I got told to meditate and be mindful so often when I was growing up and it made everything so much worse.

I recall hearing some research around that topic as well, but I admit the PTSD part of that line of inquiry stuck with me.
