I wish Marvel would just go away. Now.

Why? Some people enjoy it. I've not watched a MCU property since Endgame and I find it very easy to avoid.

I think that's in general an issue I have with long running forms of fictional media/media in general. If there is no real ending there are never truly any consequences.
Because no matter what Peter Parker does, the world will be in danger, once more.

And I do understand it speaks to the truth of the world. That it is ever moving and it's a life of struggles to gain more insight. Etc. Etc.

But in terms of media, I would like to let some things go. Like, please. Let me know when it ends. How can people stick to ALL the shows they love and expect ALL the shows to never end or go on for more than 4 or 5 seasons?? Like, is what people are aiming for is for all shows and movies and book series to be The Simpsons? Is that what people want? I don't want that. ='(

Yes, Joe Quesada, I do want to see Spider-Man grow old and die, if the alternative is eternal stasis.

They wouldn't even need to have him grow old and die, if they could just let go of the idea of Peter Parker as a young adult who never gets married and has kids. I think of Superman, tbh. DC has let Clark Kent age into his 30s and 40s instead of keeping him as a 20-something forever (new 52 notwithstanding), and it's been great for his character. Just let Peter Parker become middle-aged!

Part of the problem is that they've been producing so much content so quickly that they don't have any time to work on the quality of that product. It's been that way since before Endgame.

Marvel would need to actually care about the characters first.

it hurts because it's true

(Anonymous) 2023-09-12 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Or at least care about characters who aren't creator's pets.

Yeah, the recent killing off Kamala Khan (not even in her own title) and bringing her back five minutes later (also not in her own title) was complete bullshit and part of this whole "we want DRAMA but also NO CHANGE" crap.
