It's not so much that no-one objects to bad writing when it happens to male characters, but rather the exact same writing, regardless of its quality, is either praised or overlooked or ignored when it happens to male characters and immediately jumped on as "bad" (or given various other complaints) when it happens to female characters.

Not a commentary on the quality of the writing, so much as the response.
