Talking about it is far different from consistent trends of sketchy behavior. Finding people of whatever legal age attractive is fine, but I highly doubt is "societal acceptance" that keeps older men running after younger women instead of dating their own age. If we're going anecdotally? It's almost always because women their own age have both standards and body changes that a 25 year old doesn't (at least not yet).
