Considering that everyone is arguing about the money that a) they haven't read it so b) they can't have any opinion about the translations therefore c) their claims that the translation is bad is unfounded. Why would they do that? hmmm....

Again, you're really, really determined to believe in the worst interpretation here. I haven't bought the official translations, so I haven't read them. But I have made NO claims that the official translation is bad. The other anon who was hesitant to purchase the official translation cites that they've heard from other fans that the translation is bad, and honestly? Taking that into consideration when making a big purchase is not at all unreasonable and it's weird you're acting like it is.

I mean, if you want to be angry at people for Reasons, I guess... go ahead? But this isn't at all rational or healthy, and maybe you should take a deep breath before assuming people are horrible for being cautious about what they spend their money on.

*sigh* All I said in my original comment was that I didn't understand why so many people were complaining about the translation because I HAVE read it, and it's a fine translation. THAT IS ALL I SAID.

The response to THAT comment almost universally was, "No, it should be super duper amazing because it costs money." As if people don't have an understanding of:

a) no translation is perfect
b) no translation will appeal to everyone
c) no one is entitled to have a new official translation for free
d) fan translators don't want to risk getting sued just so you can read something that
e) can be found in some libraries or
f) if it can't, just like every other book in the world, you can wait to get it without being a dick about a translation you haven't read.

A person who hasn't read it can't say that the translation is shit. A person who hasn't read it has no business trying to tell me why the translation is shit. It doesn't matter if the book costs more money than that person can afford, it doesn't matter if the book isn't in the local library. The fact is, most if not all of the people commenting HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK. Therefore none of those responses are valid to my comment.

All I ask is that people stop saying a translation is shit when they HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK. One person, just ONE PERSON, actually had a question about the translation that would decide for them if they would give the book a try. I answered it to the best of my ability. Everyone else just wanted to pile on the pity train. I guess I'll leave you folks to your misery, and go enjoy my nicely translated MXTX novel.

Cheers
