Avengers: Infinity War. Pan's Labyrinth. Twelve Monkeys (although I prefer the tv show, which has a happy ending).

Pan's Labyrinth. Grave of Fireflies. The Green Mile definitely. Requiem For A Dream gave me a panic attack.

The Bedford Incident. Everybody on both boats dies, and the blunder might be enought to start WW3 too.

I have a soft spot for Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. Spoiler: the world ends and humanity goes extinct, no Bruce Willis shenanigans with this asteroid.

I've never seen Seeking A Friend, but I have a soft spot for a little Canadian indie movie called Last Night, which has the exact same premise.

I don't generally go for depressing endings, but the ending for An American Werewolf in London just fits, same goes for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. And I suppose then all of the Final Destination movies I've watched - they really, honestly, should just seem pointless to have watched and yet, somehow, they don't.

I mean I'd add my voice to 'Pan's Labyrinth' except I dunno, that wasn't depressing to me? I get exactly why people categorize it as such but for me personally it wasn't.

Bent, though. Oh gosh, Bent. Like... PLEASE go into Bent knowing it is SOUL-CRUSHING. I'm so glad that I watched it once, but I will only ever watch it once. There's one scene that just... will never leave me as long as I live (positive) but also a lot of things that will rip your heart out and leave you a mess.

The Banshees of Inisherin

Oh man, Bent is definitely heartbreaking.

Snowpiercer

I consider it a depressing ending because by the time we got there, I just wanted humanity to be gone. Having a boy and a girl survive just implied that the cycle of suffering was going to continue.

I'm in the US and shipping anything to me is very iffy. Since covid my apt bldg turned into the house of mysteriously disappearing packages.

The Talented Mr Ripley. I'm not usually one for sad endings, but this movie's ending (which is both incredibly sad and deeply chilling) is maybe my favorite ending of any movie. IMO it's basically perfect.

Requium For a Dream (Ellen Burstyn should have won the Oscar and Marlon Wayans should have been nominated)
Steel Magnolias
