I get why it would bother you to see essentialist gender discourse, but I don't really mind it when kids have a simplistic understanding of gender, because they are kids... they are likely putting a lot of this stuff into words for the first time in their lives, and don't have a very nuanced understanding of gender because of their limited experience. Younger people will word things in awkward and all or nothing ways because they are still learning.

AYRT - Well, yes. Totally. But when I say "kids" I mean like, 15 year olds. And the fact that they aren't even... trying.. makes me think we failed badly somewhere along the way :( Not to mention they're old enough to gang up against people for not agreeing with their discourse (be it essentialist gender discourse or anti discourse or whatever) so it's a bit of a problem in social media IMO.
