I mean this in the kindest way possible, but if your PC has no personality, that's at least partially on you.

The PC being a kind of a blank slate is pretty much the point of RPGs with character creation. The idea is to allow the player to insert what is functionally an OC (or a self-insert, if one prefers) into the story, and that means you as the player are in charge of their personality, too. Provided, of course, that the game does a decent job of allowing a range of behaviors.

If you're not into making up your own characters, fair enough. That just means games that expect you to aren't going to be very satisfying.

This. The entire point of a blank slate protagonist character is to allow you to create your own character and make them whatever sort of person you want them to be. You want them to be a shrewd, money-hungry mercenary whose primary interest is anything they do is coin? Go for it. You want them to be a genuinely benevolent person who helps others for the sake of helping them? They can be that too, it all just depends on what would be the most fun for you to imagine as the player.
