Can 2023 be over please?

[personal profile] philstar22 2023-09-18 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Why does this year continue to be just so completely terrible?

It's been fine for me. Especially compared to 2020-2021.

That's good. Glad it has been a good year for you.

And yes, I know, as a whole it has been better for the world than any of the Trump presidency years. Just has been one thing after another for me personally and I'm having a bad day and feeling frustrated.

We call ot 2023, but really it is still 2016. The year of hell never ended.

Man, seems like everyone died in 2016 and it was kicked off by Scott Weiland and Lemmy's deaths in 2015.

My life was bad pre-pandemic, good-except-for-the-pandemic during the pandemic and now kinda bad again. I'm starting to think the problem is the expectation of being outside and socializing.

The only reason I don't want it to be over is because part of me fears 2024 and not being sure of the ability of humans to turn a situation around. I hope I get proved wrong, and this ends up being the start of something so much better.

Honestly, things have been going wrong for me since 2012... but yeah, 2023 isn't helping.

hear hear. mum went through a couple of health scares last month (I mean I had to call an ambulance and she was in hospital for a little bit kind of scare), and had calculus on her teeth removed, so I’m ready for 2023 to be over provided I get a job before then.

Had to look up the non-math definition of 'calculus' and saw that it also means 'tartar'. Thanks for teaching me another meaning of that word!

There's a confused black man meme? I thought the blonde woman looking confused with some math equations circling around her meme would've suited your comment just fine.

I've given up on thinking any given year will be better than the last. It's been a downward slope for a decade, at least for me.

Yeaaaahhhh don't believe in good years bad years. I don't think that 2024 is going to be much better, but right know at least it's autumn and I like that.
But I wish for your situation to improve!

Oddly enough, 2023 has been okay for me. I've found new YouTube channels and have gone on international travel.

We had until 2020 to make things better. We didn't. Notice how time stopped in March 2020? Yeah now we're in the apocalypse phase.

2024 is a US presidential election. Fuck, I am not going to like 2024.

2023 has had its ups and downs. I am just going through it one day at a time (=

I am sorry this year is been horrible for you. The good thing about time is that, for better or worse, it always passes.

For me 2023 has been one of the best year of my life and possibly the best since 2002. Finally I am reaping the benefits of psychotherapy, started in 2021, and I am letting go of a lot of baggage I don't need. I am finally starting to feel like myself and not someone who has to follow other people's expectation.
Still not perfect, but waaaay better.
My bipolar disorder is getting better, too. Which is extraordinary since my prognosis wasn't really good to begin with. I now meet the criteria of cyclothymia, more than my diagnosed BP1. Last true manic episode was back in 2021. FUCKING PROGRESS, BABYYYY!!!

Outside of that nothing has really changed: still unemployed, still poor, still chronic pain, still bipolar disorder, still disordered sleep and still no idea what to do with my life, at 30+ years old now lol.
But goddamn, I finally see hope.
