It's a bit of an initial money sink, but if you have a decent enough computer, you can do such things through Second Life. Making a decent avatar is the hardest part, but if you ask around there are a lot of communities who are more than willing to assist you.

The exchange rate is a bit low, but it's an excellent starting platform to learn how things work and manage things a bit more safely.
