Anyone want to share their drawer fics? Share as much or as little as you want (share the fandom/pairing if you want, or keep it vague; share how long it's been WIP; share how the thing came to be and why it's in your drawer? up to you on the details). They're drawer fics for a reason.

I ask because I realized I have a lot more drawer fics than originally assumed when I thought of drawer fics not in my Google Docs.

I'll share a few of mine

Drawer Fic 1 - A Crack Pair from a Huge Fandom. AU - High School.
It's an exercise on my time spent as a theatre kid in high school through the lens of my crack pair. Male Lead is unlikable and child of the Vice Principal, high achieving, sabotaging the fall play out of sheer spite (he was rejected by the play's female lead - not the fic's Female Lead though). Female Lead is depending on the work she's going to do on the play as her entry for an art scholarship since she's in the props department; she defies Male Lead's attempts at closing the play down. They get locked together when the Senior Prank goes awry. Romance blooms because I love enemies to lovers.
I've barely gotten like one page written.
Idea came to me late last year, began to write it earlier this year.
Originally wanted to write it to share with fandom but currently not sure if I will get around to committing more time to this one.

Drawer Fic 2 - Same Pair. AU - Crime Thriller Comedy (a la "Knight and Day")
Female Lead is in a punk rock band, drinking herself through her days after finding out her sister died.
Male Lead is a contractor hired to kidnap Female Lead (I'm still tweaking out details here).
Mostly, the pair get cuffed together and fall in love as they survive the wilderness with nothing but each other. This one is darker with the pair knowing they're on opposite sides. Female lead wins out in the end (she gets the happy ending having brought justice to her sister's death).
I've written the intro and about 2 pages of the first chapter.
I forgot when this idea came to me (somewhere in 2020 or 2021??)...I don't think I'll ever finish writing this.
Originally wanted to write this to share with fandom but now it's just a drawer fic and I love what little I do have of it but that's it so I don't think this fic will ever get written...if it does maybe in a few years IDK

Drawer Fic 3 - RPF Male Character/Self-Insert Female Character - AU (MC is non-famous, just a regular person existing in my AU) - High School
Sequel fic to a fic that no longer exists (except maybe a reader has a copy saved in some form somewhere but I highly doubt it because it was a nice fandom and it was a looooong time ago).
The only reason this fic means anything to me is because the original fic was inspired by a dream I had. The fic turned out much better than I'd originally planned/thought out.
The sequel fic is an overly long and detailed fluff piece detailing a day in the life of this couple during their summer break, secretly dating behind their parents' backs. Hanging out with their siblings and friends.
I've written like....a lot for this fic and I feel like I've barely gotten halfway through the first act.
I don't even know how old this fic is but it's old. I haven't written this one in a long time. But it's always been a fic soley for my eyes. Indulge in the idealistic teenage dream I never got to experience IRL.

Drawer Fic 4 - Popular M/F Ship from an old TV show. Canon Divergent What If? Future Fic
Female Lead is returning to her hometown. Reconnects with family and familiar faces. Meets up with Male Lead and they reconnect and grow together.
This idea came to me in the late 2010s.
I have the opening to the fic planned out but that's it.
Created with the intent to share with the fandom but I don't think I ever will.

Drawer Fic 5 - I'll name this fandom LOL Cobra Kai. Johnny/Original Female Character (3rd Person Limited) - A What If? Piece on what Johnny was doing in the 1990s
The only idea I had was Johnny living in Colorado in the early/mid-1990s at a bar.
This idea came in 2020. I've barely written a page.

Drawer Fic 6 - Holy SHIT! I forgot about this until I opened up my fic folders on my desktop. So this is another fic for my crack pair from the huge fandom from my first 2 drawer fics. AU - fictional depiction of mid 20th century Old Hollywood
Male Lead is a hot shot director at a Major Studio. Female Lead is hired to be his assistant. While working on promoting a film while also preparing to shoot his next film, they start to fall in love and she begins to learn more about the film industry. She starts out cutting and editing. Then she goes into script writing. Then she's directing her own films.
Their relationship falls apart because he sees her as competition and can't just be there for her and celebrate her successes with him so they break up. Both masters of their craft and legends in the film industries (she goes to Europe and becomes an influential artist there), so well together in love but his pride refused to let them coexist. Sad ending. Major inspiration from real Hollywood couples.
This idea came in 2020. I believe what I have written is like 20k+ but it's barely just the first act.
I'm only sharing as much as I am because I don't think this fic will ever be finished or shared. It's been years since I've touched this fic.

Aww, I love the high school play one! I have a drawer fic with a similar premise for my OTP, a background canon couple from an anime series. The Female Lead is an artistic scholarship student who's in charge of painting the scenery. Male Lead is not as actively antagonistic as yours. He just takes himself very seriously and does NOT want to be involved with this silly theater stuff, but participation is required, so to maintain his GPA he's grudgingly serving as Stage Manager.

There are a bunch of side pairings/romances with the other characters. To fit the young love theme, the school play is A Midsummer Night's Dream.

I never wrote more than a couple of scenes for it.

Too many other abandoned fics to list, and I don't have the fortitude to revisit them right now!

Hmm would love to but I've mostly given up on ficwriting because I never got past the research phase and that's only because I'm obsessively picky, so the research phase went "what if I reread the entire canon and highlight EVERY part involving my ship's parts?" obviously I was just writing thin-veiled manifestos so I started writing manifestos instead. And now I have about 5 drawer manifestos instead, better than 15 drawer fics...? I only have one drawer fic and it's set in the future. Because the characters are high schoolers in canon, so they're working adults in the future. One is canonically an uptight genius and the other is the opposite in canon, so it's about character B being a sort of manic pixie dream guy to character A who struggles with a burnout and boredom (putting it like this the wish fulfillment is REAL) would've kept writing it but it's the dynamic everyone and their grandmas sees for them in the future so it feels uninspired but there were some interesting word plays.

I've a Tony/Stephen self indulgent drawer wing!fic. I have a lot of WIPs but this's the one that I don't plan to post at all.

I just went ahead and started posting one and like
it is for an audience of absolutely NO ONE. It's a ship that literally no one else has written or expressed an interest in, from a goofy 80s comedy.
But like... if it's fanfic and I'm writing it, then it's going on AO3, you know?

Honestly I feel the same about what I write most of the time. Rare pairs that are prob going to be enjoyed by one person maybe, is kryptonite to me apparently.

I just inhereted some bins from my parents and there's definitely some 80s/90s fic I wrote in one (jr high/high school for me) and fuck, I'm just gonna post 'em to AO3 because even if it's just for me, it's being archived. Someone will like it.

My rare pair five are the ones that get the most attention. I invariably end up finding that a lot of us ship it but we’re all thinking “am I the only who sees it? Will they think I went mad if I post fic?”

I have a Supernatural one that’s mainly from Meg’s POV. She’s mostly human, her found family consists of Missouri and (human) Cas, and she and Cas are hunting down Abbadon because she’s responsible for Gabriel’a death. They meet Dean and Charlie, who are both angels that were sent to make sure Abbadon doesn’t open the gates of hell again. I had the whole thing plotted out, but I ran out of steam when writing because I had way too much plot and too many mysteries going all over again. I would definitely like to finish it at some point though.

I had a House/Blackadder crossover fic that had Dr. Blackadder and Dr. Melchett working at the hospital as part of a BMA exchange program. Since most Blackadder eps are about him wanting something and scheming and usually not getting it, he was lusting after Cuddy while he and House snarked at eachother a lot. I only wrote the first three chapters and didn't finish because it wasn't good enough.

I do have to wonder now if Dr. Melchett took more notes from the Second or Goes Forth...
