I wait until the show is over. There are way too many that ruin themselves because the studio can't stand that people actually guessed where the show was going.

In the meantime, I've gone to non-English language shows. It may be that those shows are massively cliche in their originating culture, but they're new to me so I enjoy the hell out of them!

I didn't know until taking a chance on something tangentally recced on Neflix that my new comfort genre is "Japanese drama involving food but also gentle softness" i.e. Samurai Gourmet, Shinya Shokudo (Midnight Diner), and the one about the girl cooking for maiko in a Kyoto maiko-house.

I want MORE. MORE PLZ. something that isn't about romance, anyway. a LOT of Netflix's foreign language recs are romances and No Fuckin Thanks.

DA I loved The Makanai! It made me start cooking again instead of just getting takeout all the time.

AYRT

Japanese TV is the best. I once watched an entire episode of I-do-not-know-what that was just seeing how far various types of tires would fly after being launched down a ramp. Thank goodness they left the monster truck tire for last, cause that fucker DEMOLISHED THE RAMP.
