I only saw Barbie and I didn't love it, but I Agree. Used to love superhero/comic book movies, but there's so many of them now. I'm ready for different genres to dominate the box office/pop culture conversations. (Also, they're based off preexisting people/toys, but +1000 for neither of them being sequels/reboots to other films!!)

I enjoyed Barbie but there were definitely some scenes that just... were awkward and not in the funny way, some that were just cringe, and some that... well. The Barbie movie was all over the place. But I still say I love it because I laughed SO fucking hard at the parts that hit it for me.

i kinda think that was the vibe in general though, like i do think thier success was people wanting something that was actually thoughtful about movie-making.
