[She-Ra: Princess of Power]

(Anonymous) 2023-09-26 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Random: I read somewhere that old She-ra is also supposed to be 16. Which is wild, because she’s drawn like an adult woman.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-26 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I think both the OG She-Ra and He-Man are meant to be like 15-16 which is wild because they're drawn like adults.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
omg you're kidding. I thought they were adults!

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
The original cartoon was based on a toy line. She’s supposed to look like her doll.

And let’s be real; the original show was aimed at six year olds. At that age, the difference between 16 and 25 is negligible.

I don't know which one this is, but I think it's kinda cool.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-26 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Disagree, but you're welcome to your opinion.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-26 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
They're both ugly. Both.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-26 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreeeeeee. I thought the new one was super cute.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-26 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I prefer the old She-Ra. To each their own.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, at least the art for the old She-Ra had some depth to it? Like, they didn't even bother to do any shading in the new one so it just looked super flat. The picture in the secret has some basic shading to it at least looks three-dimensional.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
So do I, limited animation and all.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
I prefer it too.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Both versions have some wicked same-face going on, but the new one's definitely better if you've got an eyebrow fetish and hate textures, colors and background design.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I’ve honestly never known anyone who thinks the new one looks good (none of my friends are into anime), only a small few who were able to eventually accept the art style.
The artwork in this secret is absolutely gorgeous imho. But I’m not an anime fan so it’s no surprise that I found the new She-Ra too ugly to watch.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I AM an anime fan and I thought the new one was ugly AF. The style isn't anime, it's just... bad. It's like it wanted to be anime but it completely missed what makes anime styles visually appealing.

Man She-ra discourse always attracts homophobes pretending it was the art.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Nah. There are animated shows out there with canon f/f couples and art that isn't hideous. She-Ra is not one of those shows.

Go watch Gundam: Witch from Mercury if you want women kicking ass, an f/f ship at the center and art that actually looks good.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
sa and adding in that it even has characters with a variety of body types, too.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean the thing where Bandai is now ignoring that they're married? LMAO

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
I loved the show but the art was definitely at the "tolerate" level.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Do show a single comment ITT that fits your weird as fuck conspiracy theory. Sounds more like fans of the new show need to resort to calling everyone who doesn't agree with them a homophobe to cope because they know the art/the new show sucks.

80s-era Filmation was queer as all get out, but I don’t really think that’s what’s going on here.

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
80s art is so strange in that the characters are supposed to be young but adora and pizzazz from jem look like they're in their early 30s

(Anonymous) 2023-09-27 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Cartoon people just aged quicker back then. It’s like looking at pictures of your grandparents from when they were your age and wondering why they look so much older than you.
