And I mean, hell, it's a lot better than most shonen but if you're going to make a feminist argument about it, point out that basically every female character is a supporting character for a man (except maybe Brigadier General Armstrong, and she's tertiary at best)

da

Part of why I'm so confused by the secret is that there are actual criticisms that could be made about FMA, either generally speaking or about things that OP personally didn't like, as far as feminist writing goes. I really like FMA but it's not perfect, nothing is, and I love to discuss the good and bad parts of even my most beloved fandoms. So... I'm not outraged or offended or anything by OP's take, but I am really lost as to wtf it has to do with fridging or what their problem specifically with this part of the story was???

Yeah I would argue as well that despite its reputation for strong female characters FMA is easily criticized from a feminist angle because its view of gender roles is inherently conservative (sure, they're strong, but it's in the service of an Even Stronger Man, which exactly how I was taught was the only way that women were "allowed" to be strong in my own hard-right religious upbringing - that and To Protect Their Babies) but this is just patently trolling for everyone to correct their use of "fridging."
