What is it about John Lennon's "Imagine" that has rich people using it as their cry out for humanity?

I still get a laugh out of it. I don't think I've ever watched anything Gal Gadot has been in so I have no strong feelings toward her as an actor. I generally found the video to be so out of touch and typical for a well meaning rich famous person. Like, this was a MadTV skit from 2005 but instead it was real life in 2020.

“Imagine” is what it has always been. The only difference is how much you like the rich person doing the crying.

"Was it a millionaire who said 'imagine no possessions'? / A poor little schoolboy who said 'we don't need no lessons'?" - Elvis Costello, The Other Side of Summer.
