Woe upon every person who posts their drabbles one by one instead of as chapters.

Unless the drabbles are actually chapters and form one cohesive story, they should be posted as separate stories. AO3 has a function that allows you to link stories into a collection. Use it, instead of infesting the archive space with wall-of-tags "fics".

You can easily avoid these by excluding lower word counts. You can't with the collections. Also, separate stories wikl only show up for relevant character/ship/fandom/kink/etc, the collections will show up for multiple ones.
Separate stories are also easier to read because you know right away if you're interested or not. Whereas collections force you to comb through stories you don't care for to find the few you do. Which, personally, I can't be bothered to.

There is a collection of fandom crossovers that have appeared with intention to fill out for the whole 31 days.
I'd exclude crossovers, but my current fandom is technically 4 fandoms that get tagged at random - so even if I include all the fandoms, it automatically excludes any single fandom or less than four of those fandoms. So fun.

The real question is, have people gone back to the original "drabble" (meaning exactly 100 words) is it just short for "short fic" or is it a free for all? Or is it still a wanky topic?

You think that's bad, someone in my current fandom straight up said they don't have time to write anything new...

... so they're reposting exactly what they wrote for last year's Whumptober, as a new fic. (The old one is still up.)

At least it's a chaptered work instead of 31 separate fics /facepalm

I wish my main fandom would do a flufftober. They're all about the kinky stuff, which is fine, but it's not my thing and since it's a small fandom, there's already very little fic that I'm interested in, and I feel like right now there's even less than usual. :(

No. Filter and mute. Separate stories are infinitely better than walls of tags cluttering unrelared fandoms, pairings or characters.

Do post your drabbles one by one! and please collect them as a series, not as a chaptered pseudo-story.
