Who are these Mormon movie dads, and what's their deal?

(Anonymous) 2023-10-03 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Not OP

I have no idea if they're actually mormon, but that's CinemaTherapy, on youtube.

I dunno if they're Mormon, either, but they do have some receipts....
Whether that means anything in the context of their vids, I have no clue.

Do you mean credentials, or is this evidence of something?

Um?

OH. Oh, yes, credentials. That's what I get for typing and talking at the same time.

Are they both Mormons? I've seen a few of their videos, especially the relationship breakdowns the therapist guy does and I always got a bit of a weird vibe from both of them. I haven't seen them say anything bad, just thought that I definitely would not want that guy to be my therapist.

(Anonymous) 2023-10-03 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Why not?

(Anonymous) 2023-10-03 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
DA
Just the vibes are off. They seem nice and probably are nice but not my sort of people. And you should be comfortable with your therapist

Ayrt

His demeanor would not leave me comfortable enough to open up enough to share anything. Like he knows best and would talk at me about what he thinks my issues are, rather than work with me. It's the controlled evenness of how he expresses himself, I think. I need someone who's more openly empathic to open myself up to in therapy.

I might be completely off base! He could be a great therapist. But in terms of personality he's not someone I would trust in that context.

How does OP know they're mormon? Is it because one lives in Utah?

(Anonymous) 2023-10-03 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
They’ve never really hidden it? They’ve both been pretty upfront about their Mormon backgrounds and how they met at BYU, and have confirmed that they consider themselves to be progressive Mormons on twitter. (You can’t really link to anything on Xitter without an account anymore, but it’s on Google)

I only even know who they are because I saw one of their videos when youtube suggested them. I never looked them up, so I guess that's on me.

(I just learned one is in Utah in the link that tabaqui posted)

Huh, I didn't know that they were Mormons.

I have seen a few videos of their and its been a bit hit and miss for me. Its interesting to hear their views, but there were a few readings of a media that I didn't quite agree with - but like in a 'I disagree' and move on kind of way.

The Twilight reviews were pretty funny.
