I've never seen even one fandom nickname that was tolerable...they're all painfully twee and embarrassing, ALL of them.

Oh, man. I hate it SO MUCH. 'De', 'Der', 'Lo' (for Laura), and on and on.... Soon it'll be one-letter nicknames.

I'll keep reading if the fic is good, but omg, every time I hit that nickname, I wince.

However, there are characters that do nickname people willy-nilly. Like, I can buy all sorts of non-canon nicknames from Tony Stark, even if I don't like the names in particular (and now, I kind of want him to nickname someone 'Willy-Nilly' in fic). Also, I am sure that Stiles Stilinski has nicknamed someone just to annoy them and would again, so, again, even if I don't like it, it seems in-character. The rub is in how the other characters react.

I've backbuttoned out of so many Good Omens fics so fast. The summary and tags might be everything I want but if I see an 'Azira'/'Zira' I am GONE.

And that's just if it's in the narration. If *Crowley uses the fan nickname* I don't want to ever read anything the writer writes for any fandom, ever.

I hate it so much omg. I hate the nickname in its entirety, but holy shit no one ever calls him that. Ever. NO ONE. It's a bad nickname and you should all feel bad!

Can't believe nobody replied to this. Maybe because you're right, OP. The Guardians aren't even my favorite and I don't like Chris Pratt, but all the Guardians movies have been the best marvel movies because they actually have emotional substance.

Man, I feel ya. Oh, to be back in the early 2000's again, writing fanfic and posting Secrets here based on fandoms I've actually heard of! All my favorites, plus their best actors, have died in the past 6-7 years... :/
