Might just be the fandom. It's predisposed to a lot of angst due to the background/character's profession. So mostly all the fic that's there, even if it doesn't mention it outright, the fact that it's set in a reality like ours makes it almost unavoidable to not think about the implications.

That fandom is also rife with all sorts of depressing angst ridden scenarios sooooo yeahhhh. Lol. I've mostly just don't read them unless I'm in for some heavy angst.
