Re: Would you like some cheese with that whine?

Is it worth getting a third COVID booster shot? I'm debating it.

Do you have autoimmune issues or a condition that would still be exacerbated by Covid?

Why wouldn't you? It's always better to get the shot than to get COVID itself.

That's a bit hyperbolic.

DA

I was going to disagree with you but to be honest there are circumstances where Covid is better than the shot. I’m allergic to the shot but didn’t know so got it twice. I felt like I was dying because it turned out I was dying. And it weakened me so severely that I got Covid twice in quick succession not long after. Covid wasn’t anywhere near as bad as the shots for me and about six months after Covid the second time my immune system started back up and I’ve been so healthy ever since.

DA - that sucks. It took about 6 months after getting COVID the first time for my heart rate to go back to normal. Luckily, I'm not allergic to the shot, and this time around the booster just gave me a sore arm and maybe 28 hours of feeling kind of tired and grungy.

I got generally tired for the rest of the day after getting my covid shots and boosters, and once got nauseous and headachy for a couple hours the day after.

But when I actually got covid, I had a headache from hell, and chills, and fever, and couldn't stop puking, but I had to puke in a bowl because I also had horrendous diarrhea, and I hurt all over, and... I'm getting my damn booster.

If you have access to the shot for free or cheap, you should get it.

I got my vaccines and managed to escape COVID for a while, but my partner works in healthcare and it was frankly inevitable. Side-effects of the booster consisted of a really sore arm and feeling tired the next day. Actual COVID was 3-4 days of fever and throat so sore I could barely swallow anything without serious pain and I was getting dehydrated and not eating much. The fever lasted about a week and a half total, accompanied by feeling dizzy and so weak that standing up took effort. Walking around the house was exhausting. Everything tasted bland or bitter, and I had terrible headaches. After most of those symptoms faded, I was still really tired for a good 5-6 weeks total. I couldn't see my elderly parents for a good while afterwards and they worried a lot about me even though I kept them in the loop. I don't want to go through that again if I don't have to.

So yeah. I vote for the booster.

Obviously, this is all anecdotal, but of all the people I know who've gotten COVID, one still hasn't regained all of her lung function and one just didn't wake up one morning. I know more people who've been vaccinated than who've been sick, and the worst thing that's happened to any of them as a result of the vaccine was hives. Well, and one ended up breaking up with his girlfriend because she was sure that his vaccinated jizz was going to make her sterile, but I'm thinking that relationship wasn't long for this world anyway. Anyway, I'm voting for the booster. Also voting for making sure you're on the same page about this sort of thing before you buy a house with someone.
