What movies have your favorite costuming? What has the worse?

Not the whole movie but A Knight's Tale had mostly faux-historical costuming that wasn't horrendous but then you have most of the costumes for the female lead and they're just a trainwreck. And yeah, I know, the movie plays a lot with fully intentional anachronisms but her costumes are the only ones that a entirely out of place.

it's been a long time since I watched that movie but I remember thinking that exact thing. most of the other characters were no worse than "meh" but hers were just atrocious.

I remember liking some of Jocelyn’s costumes (and her spiky hair in the ball scene! … I was a teenage girl in the early 2000s, what can I say?), but I swear to god there’s one scene where she has a lampshade on her head.

Yeah, the lampshade was by far the worst offender. Looked very out of place and kinda like.. mid 1950s knockoff Chanel lol

I do love Braveheart, but the costumes are not historically accurate for any time period ever.

I love anything Eiko Ishioka has done. Though I think The Fall was her best work.

She's certainly one of the more outrageous designers out there (I'm thinking of her work for Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula), though not as wildly wacky as Lizzy Gardiner (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert).

da

I love the costumes in both those movies!

I loved the costuming in LOTR and The Hobbit movies, even though I didn't enjoy the latter as media.

And I remember seeing some behind the scenes stuff on Game of Thrones' costume work, specifically hand embroidery on some of the gowns that was really cool, even though I wasn't interested in watching the show at all.

Game of Thrones did REALLY well with the costuming, especially in earlier seasons when they still have a shit. Every character had an identifiable style, every region had its own variations, etc.

I love the outfits on the chorus in Little Shop of Horrors, especially the red ones with the fringe, the green cheongsams with the gold dragons and the purple sparkly ones.

lmao it's getting ripped upon in the comments on 1 but I love Reign's look. Is it historically accurate? LOL NO. but the show isn't either. The show was a hilarious mess up of dangling plotlines that were never resolved, bizarre one-off stories that should have had impacts but didn't, the occasional gut punch to the feelings, and a gleeful ruination of all historical accuracy.

But the costumes are pretty. Sure, they're costumey and some are weird, but they're pretty. The people in the show are pretty. It's a fun show. I liked it a lot. It's a popcorn show though, where you need to turn your brain off and just go with it. It's pretty people in pretty clothes being walking disasters.
