I think you do overthink it. It's a beautiful movie and I enjoyed it. But it can be a drag at times and whatever sometimes you just don't enjoy things

Oh same, thought it was a very artistic film, not super enjoyable to watch. (And I know just enough about the original story to be annoyed it wasn't gayer.) Don't think there's anything anti-intellectual about that.

+1 should've been gayer

Agreed, should have embraced the gay more.

I mean, as someone who liked it, and frankly, found it pretty humorous, and also tends to dislike ambiguous endings, are we saying the ambiguous ending was meant to be intellectually rigorous? I don't think it was. I'd disagree that there was any real attempt at intellectualism involved in leaving it ambiguous because the thematic story was about whether gawain would grow the fuck up, not whether he died or not. I can understand feeling disappointed though!

I have to be in the mood for an ambiguous ending. But even when it hits right for me, I’ll end up hating if critics/fans/producers pull some bullshit “it makes it intellectual” card. Desiring resolution to a story doesn’t mean someone isn’t intelligent.

I loved it. One of my faves. It's definitely a 'vibe' movie though, for better or worse.

Oh, I loved it. I'm really into Arthurian stories, historical and modern, and I thought the changes in this adaptation were very fun. I alsp saw the movie at a time in my life where it hit me on a very personal level which made it more special to me. I don't know how to explain that because it would be a lot to get into, I'll just say I was newly dealing with grief and certain parts of the movie gave me a lot of catharsis. I also love the visuals and just really enjoyed the odd pacing and dreaminess of it. I wouldn't say it's the deepest movie ever or that you're somehow dumb for not liking it though, sounds like it just wasn't for you.
