I think you do overthink it. It's a beautiful movie and I enjoyed it. But it can be a drag at times and whatever sometimes you just don't enjoy things

Yeah, but your idea of what constitutes quality media isn’t necessarily my idea of what constitutes quality media, either. Like the argument that Star Wars is bad because the monomyth requires confronting the father before rescuing the princess, not after.

Oh same, thought it was a very artistic film, not super enjoyable to watch. (And I know just enough about the original story to be annoyed it wasn't gayer.) Don't think there's anything anti-intellectual about that.

I did find the game incredibly creepy but I'm also a total wuss. I didn't know there was any deeper mythology around Slender Man than that though.

I definitely agree with people saying it’s still subjective. But I think this is related to the way some fans like to read subtle meaning into something that isn’t actually that deep. Which is OK and can be fun, but it’s good to remember that (general) you may be reading into things and it’s OK if other people don’t see it/don’t like your favorite thing.

lmao well at least it's clear you haven't watched Rick & Morty if that's your take. which is fine, I've watched the whole series and it's very, very much an acquired taste, but it's really not Futurama at all. idk if that's a detractor or a selling point, depends on your taste.

the fandom is toxic because the edgelordy vibe attracts fanboys who think they are Rick Sanchez and that's good, when in fact they are not, and if hey were it would still be a bad thing. Rick is a pathetic piece of shit and anyone who thinks they're so Rick is just telling on themselves.
