Life is short. Just reach out. Either nothing will come of it but at least you'll know you tried, OR you'll rekindle a friendship with someone you obviously clicked with really well at some point.

The new friendship didn't have to be exactly the same as your old one, because people and interests change, as you acknowledge in your secret. But having friendships with people you've known for years and years, even if you're not joined at the hip anymore, can be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.
