Yeah it's confusing because I don't get if it's about personality or looks or style or what. One of my fandoms has a female character who's brash, turns out to be a good military leader, loves to swordfight, and has "strong" (physical) as one of the key adjectives used to describe her in CANON, but according to the TV Tropes pages, she's the "femme" one in her friend group. Because... she's a cheerleader and wears a pink skirt, I guess?
