You know who’s always missing from this argument? The people who make the actual games and decide what audience they’re gonna sell to. If they decide they like the new guy’s money better than yours, then you stop giving them money and buy from people who still make what you want. Trying to drive off the new guy so the devs can only get your money is a pointless exercise in brand loyalty. (This is something horror game fans already figured out, when horror franchises that get big so often turn into action-adventure with horror trappings.)

“The phrase “sweet summer’s child” became a popular way of describing an innocent, naive person (especially among American writers) during the early Victorian era. It was used by a number of authors during the 1840s, notably Fredrika Bremer (1840), James Staunton Babcock (1849) in The West Wind and Mary Whitaker (1850) in The Creole. It has been used in a number of other novels, poems and speeches (especially by US authors) throughout the 20th century.”

When I first encountered the phrase, I had no idea where it was from. I did immediately recognise that it was dripping in smug patronising condescension though. So, maybe don't use it.

I don't see what this has to do with the secret?

+1

Doesn't Quora have a bunch of AI hallucination answers? I wouldn't trust anything I find there.

I think it is much more common for pre-existing fans to *think* that new fans are going out of their way to antagonize them, than it is for new fans to actually only be in it to antagonize older fans

Sometimes new fans like different stuff and that's OK and it's not a plot to piss off people

I watched a video last night that claimed in passing that the Third Doctor was one of the asexual ones, and maybe that was meant as an exaggeration, but I thought that was a bit silly. But then I don't think the Fourth Doctor was particularly asexual either.

I think Six was definitely asexual, he was too in love with himself to care if anyone else was attracted to him.

Three was ass sexual though.

Found the new fan who is unhappy they just got called.

Granted, the Third & Fourth incarnations didn't play up the sexual elements like Eight, Eleven, & Twelve sometimes did. But the Doctor can be chivalrous & low-key without being sexless.

But, no.

Let’s be real, “these new people want to change everything” usually means “these new people think the old stuff was sexist.” For tabletop games, this manifests in direct harassment of women. For Japanese video games, the standard approach is to find a woman and accuse her of translating the game wrong to support the SJW agenda, regardless of whether she had anything to do with the translation.

The way I see it, you don’t need to “protect” these corporations. They decide which kinds of games will make them the most money, and if you don’t like what they pick, the best you can do is stop paying them.
