I don’t paint either, but I love his videos. They’re so soothing.

The way he does it, he makes it look so easy.

the techniques he uses are stupidly easy - I have the paints and the brushes, I've done it. but if you don't have at least a beginner's concept of light sources, composition, and color theory, it gets harder to come up with your own ideas to paint and get them to look as good as his. source: me, I have tried. :(

I always loved his skies the most, and wondered why I couldn't just paint wispy floaty clouds all day. then I met an artist at a fair this summer who literally just paints clouds, her paintings are gorgeous. I bought one. She said "you can just paint clouds, I give you permission!" so maybe I'll break out the easel and the ol' 2" brush sometime...

Honestly, I don’t even particularly enjoy the aesthetic of his paintings. I don’t think I’d find it enjoyable to make one myself and I wouldn’t hang one on my wall.

But it doesn’t matter. He’s so lovely and so sweetly passionate about making his art and sharing it with other people. I should really go back to watching him. It might even get me a little more motivated to do completely other types of art.

I'll always have a soft spot for him because it reminds me of being a kid and spending Saturdays at my grandma's house. We'd sit and watch him together :).
