Re: Book thread
(Anonymous) 2023-10-24 05:56 am (UTC)(link)It's about a guy who's just been released from prison for a murder he may or may not have committed, and the detective who arrested him a decade ago, who is getting ready to retire, wants answers about what really happened back then. It mostly takes place 10 years before, when one of the people in his friend group in college is killed, with occasional chapters in the present day, and revolves around the different dynamics between the friends and the mystery of what happened.
I'd known about it for a couple years but didn't think it would be anything amazing, so I kept putting off reading it, but it was different than I was expecting and is honestly a new all-time favorite.
Re: Book thread
(Anonymous) 2023-10-24 06:00 am (UTC)(link)I'm not sure what to read next. The obvious choice would be The Secret History because a lot of people compare them and there seem to be a lot of similarities, but from what I've read, people who loved If We Were Villains tend to hate The Secret History (and vice versa) so I'm not sure.
