Probably was too straight for people.

Mm, I feel you. Like... getting to see polyamory in a TV show is exciting! But for it to work for me personally, I have to actually buy into it and like all the characters and their dynamics.

This secret reminds me of how several years ago (2017 or so, I think) I shared a remarkably non-sensationalized article exploring polyamory and some of the obstacles those in active polyamory relationships experienced. A friend of mine (who became pretty leftist after being raised in a center-right family) said he would never support polyamory.

Today I saw one of his Instagram stories stating that Our Flag Means Death is one of the best shows out there. I am damn curious how he feels about this development.

I am more positive about s2 as a whole than a lot of people, but the way that both Jim and Oluwande were handled this season is my biggest issue.

Feels like the writers didn't commit to either them breaking up OR the poly option, and it sucks. Their arcs feel completely cut off from s1. Plus, both of the new characters they got paired with feel hampered by being pushed into forced-feeling romantic pairings, which sucks because I love Zheng otherwise.
