Movie/TV/Games original scores. Instrumental Post-Rock. Classic rock. I've been listening to a lot of Darksynth/Cyberpunk lately as well.

It wasn't the government; it was one asshole in the mayor's office.

Duolingo

(Anonymous) 2023-10-31 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
I've been using it for Spanish for two years now. Could probably read a pre-k kid's book. But man, it had fucked my phone's predictive text.

How did your Monday go?

Hahah I feel you. Maybe try and download a Spanish keyboard on your phone and switch to it when you use Duolingo?

Annoying but at least you wouldn't be spelling things wonky/auto correct to Spanish then.

Had an endoscopy this morning. Still a little groggy from the anesthesia. Slept most of the afternoon. Tomorrow is going to be super busy at work, trying not to be too worried about all I have to get done.

Meetings all day. Tomorrow I am donating blood. If they have run out of the GITD skeleton shirts, I might have to throw hands with someone.

I consider the movie the "good parts version" of the book much as the book itself claimed to be the "good parts version" of the Morgenstern tale.

First of all, god-tier image, made me smile while all this mayhem is going on in the world- thank you for that.

And secondly, I agree so completely! I'm a nut for orcs as a concept, and when I'm not in a particularly rowdy mood I need to steel myself for a second before trawling ao3 tags. Orc fans enjoy all things with their entire being. :'D

I thought they were both great.

(Anonymous) 2023-10-31 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
And I thought the movie had a pretty sarcastic tone, too. I've also loved other movies with William Goldman as the screenwriter - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, All the President's Men, Year of the Comet (silly, but fun to watch). However, even though I think of him as really good writer, I didn't really care for Maverick or Dreamcatcher and thought the Chamber, Absolute Power, and The General's Daughter were just alright. So, I think it's fine if that particular screenplay just didn't work for you, even though you liked the book.

I’m the exact opposite; I didn’t like the book but loved the movie. But the mass nostalgia for it the last 10-15 years has really put a damper on it for me.

It's just a fucking comment. Get a grip.

Found out the last two weeks of headaches and dizziness was iron deficiency. I HAVE iron pills. *facepalm*

Also, Marathon Man and Misery were both phenomenal!

I forgot Year of the Comet ever existed. Teen me watched it because I had the biggest crush on Tim Daly from watching Wings on USA Network lol

Yep and it was a prey species who was attempting to subjugate predators. The idea was to turn them feral and show the world that predators couldn’t be trusted and have them all locked away. Most Disney movies are pretty dark if you think about them but Zootopia felt more blatant to me.

Where are you hanging out that there's more gore than romance?? (Genuine question, I want to know for reasons)

I’ve been insanely busy all month and it’s all just caught up with me today :( My body is not happy with me but I’ve done some awesome stuff and I’m proud so I’m trying not to whine too much about all the pain, brain fog, and tiredness. I wish I were even half as healthy as people say I look.

I went to the u of m's apple fled and purchased a bag of popcorn.

(Anonymous) 2023-10-31 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
you're saying the central them of the movie is abuse of power?

(Anonymous) 2023-10-31 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
What drama?

Re: Favorite music genres (or subgenres)

(Anonymous) 2023-10-31 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
industrial, synth pop, shoegaze, grunge, rock, pop, indie, some jazz, oldies, movie scores.

I enjoyed both versions a lot though I do enjoy the film more. I grew up with the film, grew tired of it because when my sister was around 3 we watched it endlessly (to the point that we hid the DVD from her and she began watching other films, finally).

Though I don't ever choose to watch the film anymore, I recall still loving it just the same whenever I'd catch it airing on TV (back when I still watched cable tv).

Mixed.

I got a promotion. I'm sensitive about sharing my good news with people. Thought my best friend would be unconditionally supportive of the news...

Only to have them ignore my "Got the promotion!" text.

I am sad to see my friend be petty and ignore me (for whatever reason/s) but I'm reminding myself no one owes me what I want.

I know now not to share my good news with this friend (or at least, not to expect anything from them if I do).

On the flipside, I was talking to another friend and she asked if I heard back on my interview. Completely forgot to talk to her about it and when I told her I got the position she gave me such a sweet "congrats!! I'm so happy for you!"

It rocks when I realize I can get the validation I desire from a place that wants to give it to me! Rather than hoping someone unreliable will, this time?

I have noticed the quite a few recent Disney movies have been more cop-friendly. Onward comes to mind the most since there's the cop boyfriend who could have easily been cut out from the main cast and you'd still have the same movie without much change.

Markiplier TV fandom (also all the other fandom's connected to it in the movie-verse, but for some reason do not come up as a tag of their own in the categories).
