Yeah, it's wacky how looking at the thread for one of today's secrets where anons are insisting that the secret is totally about Tumblr tags and tagging, which were not mentioned at all, then creating drama about that.

When all the secret said was "keep politics out of fandom."

Idk what secret they read.

You mean unlike the people who are convinced OP is part of a secret anti-black society? Those people are totally not unhinged in your eyes?

When an anonymous person says "keep politics out of my XYZ," a phase used by a lot of right wingers who complain about female or LGBT characters existing at all, I can see why people might jump to that in the absence of any other info. Even if I personally don't believe that is likely the case.

When someone takes "keep politics out of my XYZ" and is like "OP definitely means people posting about Lauren Boebert on Tumblr tags" though, I'm like what? That's such a specific example to jump to from nothing, unless they are OP. Because many people say "keep politics out of my fandom" in reference to a ton of things. Video game and superhero fandoms are infamous for that, why is Boebert on Tumblr more likely than those?

They might be OP without wanting to admit they are OP, I guess? Either that or drawing some very specific conclusions from nothing

They might be OP without wanting to admit they are OP

The more I think about it the more likely this seems, instead of taking the L and saying "oops I'm OP and here's what I meant," there's this firm insistence that OP must have meant something and only that thing and not anything else the text could have meant, which people are naturally like "but why, random anon, are you insisting it has to be this?" at
