What are some nitpicky things you hate about shows you enjoy?

I'm watching Bungo Stray Dogs and really enjoying it! But the writer/artist has to have some kind of obsession with (fully clothes) guy asses. The amount of times I think, "Put your ass away," has been far too many. Seems like once an episode someone ends up face down, ass up.

Continuity errors. When you can tell they knitted more than one take together, it distracts the hell out of me.

I feel that. I have a friend who I think would really enjoy K-Project but I don't dare rec it to her because (especially in the 2nd season) boobs and butts are wriggling and almost falling out all over the place and just WHY.

I occasionally watch a BL show here and there and most of the time I enjoy the chemistry quite a bit but then it gets to a more steamy scene and it's just very clear that the actors are very obviously avoiding their hips/dicks to touch and I can't look away. It takes me out of the scene. Like, if the actors don't want it, maybe film from a different angle or something? Or just show me kissing and roaming hands or something. There are options.

Agreed. Same goes for kissing scenes where it feels like the actors are unnaturally leaning forward and/or frozen in place, as if they're avoiding any bodily contact beyond lips and maybe hands. A "passionate" kiss that doesn't involve cuddling or hugging or that doesn't have much movement is odd.

It's definitely not just a BL thing, but the last thing I noticed it in was a gay romance (the last episode of season 2 of Our Flag Means Death, and I mostly just noticed it because the other kisses between that couple seemed to avoid that problem). If any romance scene involves characters who have canonically had sex with each other, it's just so much easier to break the illusion.

That's why I loved KP so much. Since both the leads were male models, they were very comfortable getting into each other's spaces and just touching everything. They really sold the sex scenes. It's rare to find a pair of male actors who can do that.

I think a lot of Wuxia/historical Chinese shows have really pretty costumes but I always get taken out of everything with the super close ups on the very obvious white rubber soles the shoes have.
