Obligatory “this post is a political take.”

Seriously, I’m in Arknights fandom, and the game itself is as politically sensitive as it can get past the Chinese censors. There are all kinds of people with different brands whacked-out politics who take the game as endorsing them, and if I avoided them all, all I’d have left is the people who post about waifus.

Discussing the internal politics of a video game, even through the lens of its real-life counterparts, is not the same as bringing unrelated real-life politics into spaces for fandoms that have nothing whatsoever to do with them.

Yep. This is where I personally cross the line.

Politics that are weaved into the world-building of the fandom itself? BRING IT ON. LOVE THAT SHIT. LET'S META!

IRL politics that have little or nothing to do with the fandom? I'M OUT.
It's OK if there is mention or call-out to a charity. That's useful and appreciated from me. But when people begin talking non-stop about politics and IRL events and even have hot takes on the matter? NAAAAH especially since most of the time the POV is USA centric (my fandom are mostly frequented my north americans) and I'm very tired of that.

Unfortunately I have seen people cry "politics!" about fanfic authors linking charities (usually something women or minority related) so at least a vocal minority disagrees that this is useful or appreciated

I mean, I don't agree with them but they're out there

Basically same. Charity? Go for it. Posting like politics is a new shiny fandom for you? Nope byyyyy

Also sometimes I still remember an artist I've been following who is from the same country as me. They were never political until BLM. They started to post on the issue 24/7. And it's not like our country has no police brutality and racism and immigrants killed by the police. Oh it's so fucking does. But they never posted anything about before or after. (I looked up their posts after unsubscribing) And I am just??? Wtf. Bitch, please.
