Re: If you're actually wondering about details... (not OP)

Accounts that an exact month ago had literally posted reminders that it's ok and good to say you're not informed enough to have an opinion on Political Issue instead of forcing yourself to take one, are now sharing posts about how that is propaganda designed to keep you uninformed, and it's your duty to educate yourself.

Oof. That is definitely a bright red line that should never be crossed, in my opinion, regardless of the issue at hand. It ignores two important realities: that really learning and understanding a Political Issue takes time (and yes, some level of skill), and that it's impossible to know every little thing about every single issue because there's simply too much information to absorb in one person's lifetime. There are other aspects to keeping up with Political Issues/the news as well, such as weeding out mis/disinformation and the fact that this is truly a lifelong learning process. I am so tempted to say that age might be playing a role in these realities being ignored in these fandom spaces, but then I'd be falling into an ageism trap. If there's anything I've learned in the last few years, it's that age ain't nothin' but a number when it comes to binary thinking about both Political Issues and engaging with the news as a whole.
