I'm tempted to try a Dark Urge run as well but I have the same issue: I find it hard to be a colossal asshole/evil person even in fiction. Plus there are choices in this game that would fit a Durge run that I just... could never, ever do. I might go self-interested for my Durge rather than truly evil.

Man, I'm in the same boat. My attempts to be evil in any game always wither and die. I know it isn't real, but I just feel way too bad.

FWIW, Durge doesn't have to be an evil playthrough. Resisting or fighting back against the unwanted intrusive thoughts and attempting to be/do good in spite of them is equally valid, and, without spoiling too much, has a pretty massive emotional payout in the end too.

OP
The thing is- I'm already doing a neutral-good playthrough and I'm not sure if it would be too similar (despite the added extra character lore) NOT to do an evil run? Mainly because I rarely replay long RPGs with different characters in the first place... but thank you, it definitely is something to keep in mind!

I'm playing a Durge who is resisting the urges and it feels like a totally valid play style. I'm also the type to reload when I hurt an NPCs feelings, so I was hesitant to start. But I'm having so much fun with it. I've even picked some of the darker options, because the dialogue made me laugh.

Be a selective murderer if you want to! I think there's only one kill that is story required and that's over a rest anyhow.

You can be a total monster with the dark urge backstory but you don't have to be, it's pretty wide scale for any given definition of grey characters :)
