Re: Beards

As a millennial man attempting a beard*... I honestly could NOT tell you why they have such a stranglehold on our generation's straight men, who presumably were not motivated by seeing a hot guy with a beard and having a 'do I want to be with him or do I want to be him' moment. I guess it's a gender euphoria thing for a lot of guys, even if a lot of cis men won't necessarily think of it in those terms.

*Potentially TERRIBLE hubris on my part, I had dreams of being a hunky, cuddly bear, right now I'm giving 'Shaggy from Scooby Doo hits his thirties and gets an adult metabolism'.

Good luck getting your beard? I have no issue with gay men having them (or straight men, since I know people don't have to make themselves attractive to me).

I guess maybe it is a gender euphoria thing for a lot of them. That would probably explain some of my lack of attraction - I'm not really into very masculine people usually, so someone who is actively trying to look more masculine isn't likely to be someone I'd want to be with.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense! You're attracted to *men* but not to big *masculinity*, and while there are definitely, like... beardy femme guys out there, it's still a trait that doesn't appeal if you're looking for someone whose general style/demeanor is more of a neutral masculinity.
