This is exactly how I’ve felt about since pretty early in Eleven’s run :( The “Vote Saxon” posters across the Whoniverse were brilliant! The realisation that they meant something was an awesome feeling. But it’s the only time any of them managed to pull off an arc while still delivering an entertaining and engaging program that wasn’t just about the arc.
And Moffat showed his ass (and Gaimen did, too) with that stupid bit in The Doctor’s Wife about opening the door. The saddest thing about that though was that the fandom at the time absolutely ate it up and begged for more shit sandwiches.
