Imperial Radch trilogy by Ann Leckie (which is about colonialism but not in a racially divided way)

Machineries of Empire by Y H Lee

Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor

Obsidian and Blood by Aliette de Bodard

The Fifth Season by N K Jemisin (which I did not personally like much but it fits your criteria and is definitely extremely epic)

The Fifth Season is the first book where I've encountered a fantasy group slur (about people who can wield earthquake powers) and reacted to it about as strongly as some of the real-world slurs I'm aware of. I recommend the series heartily but it starts off with
bad shit murder of a child
and the hate crimes against orogenes, and the hard decisions some of the characters make, get worse from there.
