Infected toe
(Anonymous) 2023-11-17 12:49 am (UTC)(link)It stopped hurting after a while, but the toenail turned blue/purple I assume from dried blood under it. Other than the color, it looked normal (and I even painted my other toenails blue to match it).
More recently, I noticed the nail changed - it seemed thick or raised. The very end by the cuticle, I guess where it's grown in a tiny bit (WHY must toenails grow so slowly?) is not raised or thick.
I also felt like I was possibly getting an ingrown toenail at one corner, something I used to have a horrible time with but haven't had for well over a decade by now. I tried to do what I did then and pull the ingrown part out and cut it, but I'm not sure I was successful, and then I looked it up and read that you shouldn't actually do that?
Now the possible-ingrown-toenail corner is sort of yellowish, close to the nail and obviously sort of swollen around that. I tried to trim off a bit of dried or callused skin at that corner, and got a bunch of yellow goo just like I always used to get when I had ingrown toenails as a kid. It still hurts a bit but not horribly.

(Anonymous) 2023-11-17 02:42 am (UTC)(link)That said, I still haven't removed it because it's not quite ready yet so yeah, it sounds like clipping it when you did was a bad idea. Go to your doctor.
