One of the side effects of my face blindness is that it’s easy for me to think of stylized faces as still being human faces. I can still tell what’s art and what’s real, but when I’m drawn into the story, a stylized person FEELS as real as a live-action person.

But popular trends in art styles always end up looking samey anyway since they’re everywhere.

After the popularity of whatever that awful style was they used for the new She-Ra, I’m happy to hear that a shift is happening.

Dunno. I'm actually kind of happy to see more hyperrealism showing up. Then again, I have seen some pretty interesting things in reality (such as the Fort Worth Water Gardens).

i love hyperrealistic when the og thing is not at all realistic, because it feels like artists had to interpret a little more? and i don't think they interpret the same.

I enjoy hyper-realism as a display of skill, but when I want art I go to photography for realism and I prefer paintings/drawings/etc to be more stylized.

Is there a current trend towards hyperrealism? I don't feel like I've seen more of that recently, not doubting it's happening somewhere, but I am curious where you're seeing that.

I only like stylized art styles, they really help with the immersion and suspense of disbelief. I suppose I'm like this one person who made the secret about only watching pre-2010 anime because of that.

What is this? Cause, uh, I have a c-drama on my to-watch list and I want to make sure before I actually start it...

I'm not sure what cdrama this is, but I get it, OP. I don't look for much in the way of progressive feminist attitudes in cdramas. The closest I've personally seen is New Life Begins - nowhere near perfect, but I think they were trying. Generally speaking, I've been underwhelmed by the "strong" female characters in cdramas because it can contain some pretty cringe stuff, such as "female character who yells a lot and wields a weapon but rarely has an impressive fight scene despite having a reputation as being a powerful fighter".

I watched it and it's better than 90% other dramas. For anyone interested it's Oh My General. The fact that the title is not mentioned makes me think that the secret is genuine in which case I'm confused about lesbian overtones as there's none.

The guy also played in GO Princess Go which is a 10/10 tv series and you should watch that one.

I liked O My General (the last third is a snooze fest, as usual with cdramas) and the one with the fat fl because they break stereotypes a bit.

Isn't that the whole point of a challenge, though? If everyone were given 4 hours to bake the cake, then it wouldn't really be much of a challenge. The challenge is whether you're skilled enough and creative enough to find a way to do it despite the restrictions.

I haven't read any published yaoi, like ever, actually, but I totally can see this. I'm sure it's mostly because peoples tastes just changed towards "cute, fluffy" yaoi, but I'm sure that the whole "only healthy relationships should be written about!" crowd had at least a minor effect on this.

Dating and names?

Would you have trouble dating someone if you hated their name? I'm thinking more about names that I just hate aesthetically, like I just don't like how they sound or look than names that have been ruined by an association like a bad ex. I suppose a bad name isn't a good reason to avoid someone, but I'd prefer it if a person didn't have one I find horribly ugly or cheesy.
