(Anonymous) 2023-11-21 02:22 am (UTC)(link)This idea that it's ableist to suggest that someone might not want to be disabled, because "disabled people can live just as full lived as able-bodied people." Like, fuck you. You think a paralyzed person doesn't ever think, "man, I wish I wasn't paralyzed," not due to SOCIETY, but because being paralyzed fucking sucks? You think someone with a chronic illness wants to get rid of it only due to SOCIETY, and not because having a chronic illness fucking sucks? You think someone with an amputated limb only misses that limb due to SOCIETY, and not because losing a limb fucking sucks? You think when my partner was shitting himself, when he was in constant debilitating pain; when he had surgery to remove his colon, and had to deal with an ostomy bag; and then had to have a second surgery on top of that, he was thinking, "if only SOCIETY weren't ableist, all of this would be perfectly fine and dandy, because I am living as full a life as a person without this condition?"
It's all fucking bullshit from comfortable, self-absorbed kids who think any discomfort at all is the same thing as actual hardship, and who want to be the center of everything, and in the course of their supposed thirst for justice take all of the resources away from the people who could use them most.

You know what I used to do at my long meals breaks when I worked at Walmart? To deal with the stress and strain of things? I set an alarm so I wouldn't overstay my break and I SLEPT. I slept at my meal breaks rather than eat because of the mental strain of a stressful work environment that started ignoring issues and needs I had, because I can look normal "enough" .
You know how stressed I was because of that? Because of the sheer stress of trying to pretend to pass myself off as normal and then having my needs and issued ignored. I literally STOPPED having a period. Which for some women happens under intense or serious amounts of stress. The last time I had that issue (and not even for as long as I had it at Walmart) was because my mother was dying
Maybe you should consider that just because a person on the spectrum looks like they're getting by allright IT DOESN'T FUCKING MEAN THEY ARE!!! and that's why people often get mad about functioning labels and how seemingly minor needs autistic people are treated. And then we have shitstains who think that we're taking up resources.
Fuck you.

I don't know the groups you're talking about but I do know that a lot of autistic people who have opposed the idea that neurotypical people have of a cure don't like it . That's for a good reason , because to some of us, our autism is a part of who we are and the cure people talk about sounds to some of us like killing who we are.
Still that doesn't make the whole lolcow mocking thing okay.
