2. Um, why?

9. I do that all the time. :D

(Anonymous) 2007-04-06 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
2. Why not? It amused me.

[identity profile] luzerna.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
No, I meant, why was it taken off?

[identity profile] staymyadamant.livejournal.com 2007-04-05 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
7. Hmm...and I'm curious in how good you are. I love competition.

[identity profile] fairyfey.livejournal.com 2007-04-05 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Oh, ditto. -_- I've had that feeling a lot (though thankfully not with my current games!).

[identity profile] experienced.livejournal.com 2007-04-05 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Oh god me too.

7. WHY HELLO MASSIVE EGO.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-05 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry but what does BNF mean?

[identity profile] experienced.livejournal.com 2007-04-05 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Big Name Fan. Someone who does a lot of fanworks/their fanworks are quite popular/they're just well known.

5. I won't post this anonymously since I think our hard application process isn't a secret, and I wouldn't really mind if the people who vaguely get mentioned in a very negative light here found this comment somehow:

I co-run a pretty large internet RP ([livejournal.com profile] landels_damned) that we do get a lot of apps for and which we DO reject quite a few for, whether due to bad writing or bad characterization. (I'm strangely proud that we have the balls to do that.) Anyway, I usually feel pretty bad about it and try to be as gentle--but honest--about the reasons why we rejected in the rejection emails, but... to be honest, sometimes the apps really are so bad that I feel relieved for being in a position where I can honestly give the apper a wake-up call about the quality of their writing or characterization. (And... sometimes I do feel bad about even that until I see the person (or people) with horribly, incredibly OOC apps trying to blow off their being rejected as us mods being overly subjective. Of course, that's totally untrue: We reject OOC apps, not apps that differ from our personal views on a particular character's personality but which could still be very reasonably based in canon.) Of course, then there are some people who are extremely polite and wonderful who ask for more details on why they were rejected so that they can form a better app for next time, which I think is very admirable. :3

In short, yeah. I feel bad most of the time, (especially if they clearly put a lot of work into the app. :/), but sometimes... it's very satisfying, especially if you find out afterwards that the player reacts immaturely and distastefully (in which case you're glad you didn't let the player in in the first place due to their wanky personality.)

Hope no one is offended by this. ^^; I guess I'm just paranoid about wank.

[identity profile] melting.livejournal.com 2007-04-05 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's one of the things that makes Landamned great. If the application process wasn't so rigorous, Landamned wouldn't be as awesome and wank-free as it is.

It's really wondrous that you guys can read them all in such a small period of time, though. 8D You deserve a big cake.

Mm, big cake.
hughes: (king of pain;)

[personal profile] hughes 2007-04-06 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, thank you. ;; <333 I'm really, truly glad when people appreciate the difficulty of the application process instead of complaining about it. T_T SO THANK YOU <3333

7. We have all different interpetations. Some better than others, nice to know you're confident in your abilities though. Just remember, there is always room for improvement!

(Anonymous) 2007-04-05 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
4. I see a Hughes. :O Was this person an FMA BNF? *On the outer rim of that fandom, so doesn't know much.*

(Anonymous) 2007-04-09 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Among other fandoms, yeah. I think she got the most 'popularity' in FMA, though. She actually is a fantastic writer, so she tends to get attention in whatever fandom she goes to.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-05 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
7. Lloyd, Raine, Regal, yeah, uh, sure, but saying you can play Colette better than anyone else is like saying you can play a kazoo better than anyone else.

But that's beside the point. In short, I hope you're speaking to some particular bad RPer, and not everyone reading your secret.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-05 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
To a particular player. And now I'm curious if you thought I was someone specific.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-05 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. Not even in the fandom, really, just have played the game. And if it's towards a particular player, then hahaha, I know how you feel. <3

[identity profile] xx-autodafe.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
9. Me too! <3

[identity profile] kurachu.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
4. Being a BAMF is cooler than being a BNF any day.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 03:13 am (UTC)(link)

Since I suck with internet lingo usually ... what's a BAMF?

[identity profile] kurachu.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Bad ass mother fucker \:D/

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Lol. Awesome.

Aren't some BNFs that as well? ::dies.::

[identity profile] kurachu.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
I guess... but honestly, until this community I had no idea what a BNF was. It sounded like a Nazi term to me.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 03:25 am (UTC)(link)

You're not alone. I had no idea what it meant either. And then I was all, 'Oh ... so you're a BNF then? Lol. This is a new word for me.'

[identity profile] kurachu.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the first time I saw it used, I went, "O...kay, great for this person, he's a BNF, he's... a Nazi." It still confuses me sometimes because it's such a new term and I forget new things quickly. I wonder who comes up with these terms?

[identity profile] elegare.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Bad-ass-mother-fucker. RP journal; ignore!

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
5. I WANT A BANHAMMER. Omg.

[identity profile] victorisham.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
2. I SAW THAT POST. And I see my (winning!) icon, too.

Makes me sad that I can't remember what the deleted icon was before it got deleted. ): Was it smutty or something?

[identity profile] liltigre.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
1) Then you should try to! :D Many of my RL friends are ones I originally met online. Hell, I knew one friend online for two years before we realized we lived 30 miles apart. :3 We even dated for several years, and we're still good friends. Try meeting up at cons and such- it's fun to meet people like that!

5) There's a certain satisfaction in smashing a really bad OOC player with the banhammer, I'll admit. And tough apps usually are a pretty good way of weeding out good players from bad. ... actually, i don't think I've ever played in a group where apps were just accepted without thought, or ones that didn't require well thought-out applications.

9) That is entirely more fun than it should be. Though since I tend to play characters a bit similar to myself, sometimes I get some odd answers. XD

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
7. Once I thought this about a particular person who played as Lloyd on an anonymous RP thing. Then again, there are others who I thought played him very, very well. That kid is my specialty, although I have played Kratos and Presea as well. *Points to icon as proof - life? Who needs one when you can have a CHARACTER MONOPOLY*

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 03:12 am (UTC)(link)

4. Thank you. There's nothing that irks me more than seeing people bash BNFs that I know without having any real reason to aside from internet rumours. They're people who are just like anyone else.

karel: (2-D; cowboy up)

[personal profile] karel 2007-04-06 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
There is a certain character that I could say this about. Only trouble is that I'm way too lazy to try to app for him even when he's open. BUT IF I DID. >D I know that comes off as way, way arrogant, but EVERY TIME I see the character played, sometimes even written, I want to scream that they're butchering him.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. ^_^
larvayne: pokemon; ho-oh (ANISE: OMGYAY)

9. IT'S FUN!

[identity profile] techno-beat.livejournal.com 2007-04-06 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Haha, I know what you mean. Me and the other mods at my old rp eventually started to make each other decline apps though. XD

9. LOL I DO THAT WITH EVERY QUIZ TOO. ♥ *snuggles*
