I mean this is kind of C-net in a nutshell: it focuses on the pretty and not on quality so most of the shows are really, really fucking bad or just boring as shit. I tend to enjoy the costume dramas as they're allowed to be at least somewhat spicy and fun, but every single modern C-drama is utter dogshit beyond comprehension. To the point that even if I like an actor I won't touch their modern shows because I know I'll get bored in 5 mins.

I usually avoid the modern ones because they tend to be primarily romance, and I don't enjoy those. The costume ones are fun for me because there are beautiful people wearing beautiful costumes and sometimes, swordplay.
