I can see why someone might think it's sympathy-searching (usually the accuser has their own shit they're projecting), but... accusing someone of being selfish and inconsiderate is generally a bad response to someone venting about being a witness to a death.¹ Witnessing a death is a type of trauma, and it's natural to be upset about it.

As for OP, I'm not sure why the comparison? Every post should be taken and analyzed individually. It's not a contest of sympathy or suffering, and if you don't care about nuance or context, you should probably stay out of the discussion.

¹Unless it's one of those rare cases where the poster has known history of trying to divert sympathy from another to themselves when it's inappropriate.
