Best episodic/ best serial

What are the best episodic-style tv shows? What are the best shows that are plot-arc focused? How about best shows that mix both

Episodic: Voyager, Next Generation, Strange New Worlds, Buffy, Criminal Minds, 911 and 911 Lone Star, Stargate: SG1, Sanctuary, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, House, Chicago Med, Call the Midwife

Arc: Babylon 5 is a mix, but overall is about an arc. Avatar: The Last Airbender, Picard, Obi-Wan.

Mix: Doctor Who, Deep Space Nine, Supernatural, Legend of the Seeker, Galavant, 12 Monkeys, Andor


Overall, I do tend to prefer episodic. But B5 is my top favorite, and that's more of an arc show.

One of my episodic faves is Star Trek:TNG. Earlier seasons of Criminal Minds was also pretty damn good, as was Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Oh, and X-Files, though I guess it's arguably a mix of monster of the week episodes and the mythology. I always liked the motw ones better.

This year I binged Better Call Saul, a master class in plot-arc storytelling.
