I do think they had lots of chemistry, and I wish they'd done more things together. But I was not a fan of her character at all.

Even this picture makes me cringe in half remembered second hand embarrassment type of squick about all of their scenes. I adore Claudia Black, but I think by the point she joined I was beyond over Shanks and cringed at everything he did.

Oh I was just personally fed up with him. As far as I know he didn't really do anything, I just found him annoying. I loved him at the start of the series, but for some reason by the end every scene he was in annoyed me. Just one of those things.

OMFG, are you me? Because yes, 100% yes. And Daniel just bored the snot out of me. But such things Are Not To Be Uttered in the fandom.

Yes, he was kind of boring, especially in early seasons. But he was just so pretty. Damn was I into him back in the day.

I loved him at the start. What can I say, I'm a sucker for the nerdy whump character. But there was a point where I felt Shanks didn't want to play a nerd and he just slowly turned the character into the most boring annoying blah guy.

Absolutely. I also loved early seasons Daniel and thought that the whole storyline with his wife was great. I'm a total hypocrite because at the time I was so mad about Daniel's death and hated Jonas on principle, but honestly, they shouldn't have brought Daniel back. I really didn't like him in the last few seasons.

IIRC, he thought his shit didn't stink, and that he was the most important thing about the show. The reason it says, "and Michael Shanks as Daniel Jackson" is because he got his agent to pitch a fit and get him billef that way. He also left the show thinking he was amazeballs and would totally make it in movies, but then had to beg to come back.

I cannot support this because had she been on SG-1 all along, she wouldn't have been able to be on Farscape.

+1000. I've never seen Stargate but if she'd been on SG1 she wouldn't have been killing it on Farscape as the incomparable Aeryn Sun and having amazing chemistry with Ben Browder.

I hated them together. Daniel was such a dick to her. She deserved better.

Going to echo the poster above me. I did love having her on SG-1, but having her on Farscape was better.

I did enjoy having both her and Ben Browder on the show the last couple of seasons, though. Although I know it wasn’t a popular opinion in the fandom at the time, I enjoyed the new dynamic they brought to the show. I felt bad later, though, after reading something about Claudia being sick a lot during that last season, so I’m not sure she was having so good a time.

On the one hand, Claudia Black should always be on a science fiction TV show, at all times. She should be in all of them.

On the other hand, I never really liked her character's dynamic with Daniel! And I didn't really like her character's romantic dynamic on Farscape either honestly. Just... doesn't work for me.

I was never really sold on her character myself, and generally did not like the introduction of her or Ben Browder's character. I like them both a lot in Farscape, but in Stargate they left me cold. I think the Stargate writers were hoping some Farscape fans would follow them to the show.

Ben Browder's character would have worked much better if he wasn't forced into the team lead role. That should have gone to Sam. It would have been a much more interesting dynamic if she'd been the lead.
