Well, there's "critical analysis," but it's usually all through the lens of oppressed vs oppressor. Any attempt to complicate that framework, or even just to present people of all stripes as complex human beings, is viewed as problematic.

Hand-in-hand with this goes the fact that people react very, very poorly to being intellectually and/or ideologically challenged. And their discomfort at being challenged is interpreted as a sign that the work they're interacting with is "bad."

That's, uh, kinda the basics of critical analysis. You have to get your ego out of the way. Are they even teaching this anymore??
