The Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer. makes good use of first person, especially when brought to life by the audiobook narrator.

Literally was going to comment this one! I actually wrote a paper on the series' use of first person in college--how well it shows Jacky's character, both in growth and limitations, how the meta framing works, and just how good Meyer was at character voice. Plus yes, the audiobook reader was AMAZING.
