Re: First-person narration done well

I love how Diana Wynne Jones handled first person POV, especially in books where the perspective shifts between multiple characters using first person. The different details the different characters focus on are wonderful, and their different speaking mannerisms as narrators. Some of her books are harder for me to get into than others, I don't know why her writing style sometimes immediately grabs me and other times is challenging for me. Some books I reread dozens of times and some I still haven't finished, but those that worked for me are among my most beloved books.
